Bio

Eng Pua was born in Singapore and has resided in North Carolina since 1985. He showed an aptitude for art from an early age. When he was ten years old, he won an art competition and his work was sent to the United Nations for exhibition. That gave him tremendous encouragement and confidence. However, because of twists and turns in life, he did not have a chance to pursue a career in art. Instead, he obtained a Ph. D. in science and worked as a software professional for many years before he retired to paint full time.

A few years prior to his retirement, he felt a strong need to get back to art and began to take classes at Carrboro Arts Center, where he studied with outstanding art teacher, Luna Lee Ray. He also attended many workshops offered by contemporary masters such as Paul Jackson, Linda Kemp, Sterling Edwards, and Tom Lynch.

He has exhibited his work at Page-Walker Arts & History Center of Cary, Hickory Museum of Art, Gallery 42 in Ohio, Halle Cultural Arts Center of Apex, Carrboro Arts Center, Cary Gallery of Artists, Arts of the Albermarle of Elizabeth City, and The Historic Turnage Theatre of Washington, NC.

He is a member of Watercolor Society of North Carolina and was selected to participate in the 2011 WSNC Traveling Exhibition.
